From Hanoi to Nanning by direct sleeper train
The MR1/T8702 jointly operated by Vietnam Railways and China Railway is a sleeper train service connecting Hanoi to Nanning overnight across the border. This is a direct train that consists of two sectors: the MR1 runs through Vietnam territory from Hanoi to Dong Dang and the T8702 runs through Chinese territory from Pingxiang to Nanning.
To carry out this journey, passengers will board the train MR1/T8702 at Gia Lam Railway Station in Hanoi at 21:20 PM.
The train MR1/T8702 transports 5 carriages with Soft bed 4x compartments accommodating 1-4 passengers.
The train arrives to Dong Dang in Lang Son province at 01:55 AM. Passengers must get off and complete immigration exit procedures at the Vietnamese border in Dong Dang Railway Station. At 02:50 AM the train departs from Dong Dang in Vietnam and arrives at 03:30 AM to Pingxiang in China. At this point, the time has to be adjusted to 04:30 AM, as there is +1 hour difference between China and Vietnam.
Once in Pingxiang, passengers must get off the train and complete immigration entry procedures at the Chinese border in Pingxiang Railway Station.
Travellers bound to China on the direct train from Hanoi to Nanning are required visa exemption or stamped visa. Visa on-arrival is not accepted at the rail border crossing.
After entering China passengers will board the train, which departs from Pingxiang in Guangxi province at 06:20 AM and arrives to Nanning Railway Station at 10:10 AM.

From Hanoi to Guilin and Beijing by train
Every Tuesday and Friday, passengers of MR1/T8702 train will be able to continue their journey northwards from Hanoi to Guilin and Hanoi to Beijing, as the through sleeper carriage will be attached to the Z6 train.
The MR1/T8702/Z6 service departs from Nanning at 11:00 AM, crosses Guangxi province of China and arrives to Guilin at 14:15 PM.

The electronic ticket is not a valid boarding pass and it cannot be used to board the train.
Passengers must follow our instructions and present a copy of the electronic voucher at Gia Lam Railway Station along with the passport (and passports from the accompanying passengers) to collect the physical tickets. Please do not carry the electronic voucher in your mobile phone or tablet as digital copies are not accepted to collect the physical tickets.
During the check-in and boarding, please present your travel documents for verification.
