We are pleased to introduce online ticket booking for the international railway service from China to Vietnam. This railway service complements the return route from Vietnam to China.
From Nanning to Hanoi by train
Travellers can now use Baolau to book train tickets from Nanning to Hanoi. The train service T8701/MR2, jointly operated by China Railway and Vietnam Railways, is divided in two sectors: the T8701 service from Nanning to Pingxiang through Chinese territory, and the MR2 service from Dong Dang to Hanoi through Vietnam territory .
To carry out this journey, passengers will board the train at Nanning Railway Station at 18:05 PM. The T8702/MR2 is a sleeper train service that crosses the international border overnight.
The train arrives to Pingxiang station in Guangxi province at 22:10 PM. Passengers must get off and complete immigration exit procedures at China border. At 23:41 PM the train departs from Pingxiang in China and arrives at 00:22 AM to Dong Dang in Vietnam. At this point, the time has to be adjusted to 23:22 PM, as there is -1 hour difference between Vietnam and China.
Once in Dong Dang, passengers must get off the train and complete immigration entry procedures at the Vietnamese border. After entering Vietnam passengers will board the train, which departs from Dong Dang in Lang Son province at 01:55 AM and arrives to Gia Lam Railway Station in Hanoi at 05:30 AM.

The train T8701/MR2 transports 5 carriages with Soft bed 4x compartments accommodating 1-4 passengers.
Fill in the passenger form, including the passport information. Select your preference, Lower berth or Upper berth. The compartment for you and your travel company will be assigned depending on the availability for the travel date.
Complete your payment before submitting the booking request.
Once you submit your booking and we confirm the ticket availability, we will require a copy of your passport (and passports from the accompanying passengers) to issue the ticket with Nanning Railway Bureau. Additionally, if you are not Vietnamese national and your passport is not included in the list of visa exemption for Vietnam, we will require a copy of your stamped visa.
After your reservation is processed and your ticket has been issued, you will receive by email your ticket confirmation. The electronic ticket is not a valid boarding pass and it cannot be used to board the train.
Passengers must follow our instructions and present a copy of the electronic voucher to our representatives at Nanning Railway Station along with the passport (and passports from the accompanying passengers) to collect the physical tickets. Please do not carry the electronic voucher in your mobile phone or tablet as digital copies are not accepted to collect the physical tickets.
During the check-in and boarding, please present your travel documents for verification.
Non-Vietnamese travellers bound to Vietnam on the direct train from Nanning to Hanoi are required visa exemption or stamped visa. The e-visa and visa on-arrival are not accepted at the rail border crossing.
Stamped visas for Vietnam can be obtained directly at the Embassy of Vietnam in your home country, also at the Embassy of Vietnam in Beijing and the Consulates of Vietnam in Shanghai, Kunming, Nanning, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
