Guangzhou to Xi’an by Hard Sleeper Train Z264

written by Gaudi Renanda January 10, 2019

The Z264 is a direct express train service operated by China Railway connecting Guangzhou to Lhasa in Tibet. It is the fourth longest train journey in the world. The distance of 4,980 km on a scheduled time of 53 hours and 20 minutes, which means 3 days and 2 nights.

Due to its lengthy route, this service is one of the top priority Z-class trains in China. It stops in key cities, namely Chenzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Xi’an, Lanzhou and Xining. Once in Xining, passengers interchange trains to a diesel locomotive pulled train designed for the Qinghai–Tibet railway. This still uses the same train number and same seats/beds as printed on the ticket.

Now you can easily book your train tickets in China with Baolau.

China Railway train service

China Railway operates different types of conventional trains, express and fast services. They are designated with classes K, T and Z. Z-series trains provide a direct express service between two cities with few or no stops. The maximum speed is 160 km/h.

Guangzhou to Xi'an by train

In this journey, we will be taking the Z264 train from Guangzhou to Xi’an. Total travel time is 22 hours. That is not even half of the journey to Lhasa!

Departure from Guangzhou Railway Station

Guangzhou Railway Station is the main railway station in Guangzhou. It is located in Yuexiu district of Guangzhou, served by Line 2 and Line 5 of the Guangzhou Metro. It links with Guangzhou South Railway Station. This station accommodates most of the conventional trains from and to Guangzhou. Plenty of CRH trains to Shenzhen on the Guangzhou–Shenzhen railway Line and Guangzhou–Zhaoqing intercity Line. Some D-series to Southwestern China including Chengdu, Guilin, Guiyang, and Nanning also call at this station.

Passenger experience

The Z-class train consists of 3 types of passenger coaches: Soft sleeper, Hard sleeper and Hard seat.

Each train crew standing at the door is assigned to that coach throughout the journey so be sure to smile as you board.
