MTR is a urban railway operator in Hong Kong, connecting the urbanised areas of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories.
Trains operated by MTR
MTR operates commuter lines, with trains running on conventional rail at a typical maximum speed of about 90 km/h.
On MTR and Light Rail trains, travellers can board with standard ticket or metro pass and they are allowed to take any seat available. On these trains, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. When all the seats are full, passengers must travel standing on the corridor or the coach entrance without blocking the access to other passengers.
