Introduction
KTM Berhad is the state-owned railway operator in Malaysia, connecting Alor Setar, Butterworth, Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Pulau Sebang and Johor Bahru in the West Coast, Tumpat, Wakaf Bharu and Jerantut in the East Coast, and Singapore across the Strait of Johor.
Trains operated by KTM Berhad
KTM Berhad operates three types of train services:
- - KTM ETS
- - KTM Intercity
- - KTM Komuter
KTM ETS is a high-speed rail service that operates along the electrified double-tracked stretch of the West Coast Line between Padang Besar and Johor Bahru. KTM ETS trains travel up to 140 km/h on a metre gauge rail line.
KTM ETS supports two passenger classes with reserved seats: Business Seat arranged in a 1+2 row configuration and Seat arranged in a 2+2 row configuration.
KTM Intercity is a diesel-hauled rail service than runs on a single-track along the East Coast Line between Tumpat and Johor Bahru, and across the Strait of Johor between Johor Bahru and Singapore. KTM Intercity trains travel up to 110 km/h on a metre gauge rail line.
KTM Intercity supports one passenger class with reserved seats: Second class Seat arranged in a 2+2 row configuration and one passenger class with reserved berths: Second class Sleeper.
KTM Komuter is a commuter rail service that operates along the electrified double-tracked stretch of the West Coast Line between Padang Besar and Butterworth, between Ipoh and Butterworth, and between Batu Caves and Pulau Sebang. KTM Komuter trains travel up to 120 km/h on a metre gauge rail line.
KTM Komuter supports one passenger class: Non-Reserved Seat.
