Reviews
Cyprien
The train journey was very pleasant and the staff were very nice and helpful. The journey was slow but we arrived more or less on time. Philip
Was a long trip but very safe. Have a lady from the railway company on board all the time to take on and off passengers, she also keeps an eye on large suitcases that must be stored near the exit. One passengers need first aid for cuts as she fell while getting an outside coffee. Excellent first aid and hygiene Marie
Les places réservées n' existaient pas. On s'assoit où on peut Jean
Good basic service Brad
Didn't know what to expect but train was very comfortable and arrived on time. Staff on train were very friendly. Andrew
The train was late arriving at Kampot so we missed the boat we booked to Koh Rong Samloem but we got the next one. It would be good if the trains could leave and arrive as per the timetable as this is the second time we have used a train on this line which was also late departing and arriving. Susan
The train was over an hour late! Susan
Comfortable seats and friendly staff - train was an hour late from scheduled arrival time. We had to wait ages to allow a train through that was coming in the other direction. Leave plenty of time if connecting to onward travel. Emma
Five star travel experience on the train from Battambang to Phnom Penh. The train departed and arrived on time; comfortable seats, clean toilets, charging ports. Staff at station and on train were very helpful and welcoming. Fantastic experience! Sara
Fantastic experience had a first class seat and the trip was excellent and comfortable Brooke
Very friendly staff, on time departure and arrival a little earlier than expected. Would have been nice to be able to buy drinks, coffee and some snacks on the train, but the short stop in Pursat was enough to buy snacks and drinks. Fabienne
It was a great adventure to travel by train from Battambang to Phnom Penh. No tourists. Patrick
The train departed perfectly on time, it was a great experience Damiani
Train departed on time, this is my first time taking train on a long distance with 6:30 hours in Cambodia. Never feel bored with the views and seeing people running around with their daily life: the cows, the chickens, the birds, the sounds of the train track :) its a combo to detox your mind from toxicity in the city. Sophea
Smooth ride. Left on time. Arrived 30 mins late in Kampot but is standard and should be factored into travel time. Good that there's announcements for upcoming stops in english - this should be on all trains. Theshani
Overall it was a pleasant experience. There were regular stops that was not on the timetable which obviously adds to the total travel time. The cabins were very cold and lots of mosquitoes. Theshani
Left on time. Comfortable seats. Arrived about an hour late but all went smoothly. Julie
The train was very comfortable, with lots of space and leg-room. Standard Class seemed fine, too; but paying just a few $ extra was money well spent; including an air-conditioned car. The train was the best part of an hour late in arriving at Kampot, but for us it didn’t cause us any problems. Great views of interesting countryside and village life on our journey. Kenneth
The train left on time. The carriage was clean and so were the toilets. Staff were very nice. The train was an old fashioned one with open windows so it was great for taking pictures. Very relaxing way to get to Battambang. Anne
The train broke down numerous times but eventually we got off and had to get a bus on the rest of the way which meant I missed my ferry to Koh Rong luckily my time was changed and I didn’t lose my money Ed
The seat numbers were wrong on the carriage for second class but the attendants said to just choose any seats. It was a quiet trip so it was fine. Arjun
As expected. Train more comfortable than I first anticipated. No unpleasant surprises Andrew
A totally different style of train was used on this service and was lesser than was expected. The train was delayed on arrival, but no advice from staff at Kampot station as to what was happening or when the train would arrive and depart. Christopher
The first class service was very good and we were happy with the seating. The train left Phnom Penh on time and it was an enjoyable ride to Kampot. Christopher
The train departed on time and in fact arrived in Battambang a little early. However, signage at Phnom Penh Station is lacking. The standard of the train was lesser than the previous "soft seat" service we used to Kampot and return. Even though the fare was comparable, the level of seating and on board facilities was far less. As this train service is one of the main ways for visitors to travel to towns outside Phnom Penh, the standard of train and facilities on board needs to be improved. Christopher
Very comfortable but a very slow train.. train staff were excellent. John
This is a long and not very comfortable journey but enjoyable because you see sights along the way including a lot of rural life in Cambodia Charlotte
I was expecting the journey to be slow and wasn’t disappointed. It took nearly 7 hours to travel 290km. but sometimes it’s good to slow down. On the train you can move about, unlike on a bus. I enjoyed it. And only US$8! Jeffrey
Great friendly staff, clean railway carriage, on time, great value for money Robert
Excellent train journey from Battambang to Phnom Penh. 2 train carriages. Not many passengers. Carriage A was less bouncy than Carriage B. Enjoyable journey. Thank you very much. Huw
Was at the station an hour before but 30 minutes prior to departure would have been adequate. Great journey, on time , comfortable, clean and efficient. Will do more! Helen
Confort dans les wagons très correct. Voyage sans problème. 1h30 de retard pour le départ de Kampot. Philippe
Not enough seats for everyone on the train. 3 people had to sit on plastic chairs. Fiona
Le train était très bien, confortable avec la climatisation.nous sommes partis de Phnom Penh quasiment à l'heure, mais avec quasiment 45 min de retard à l'arrivée. Mais nous avions pris de la marge pour la suite du trajet, heureusement. Magnifiques paysages. A refaire. Crystel
Everything worked out as planed Tina
One and a half hour delay in a packed train where we couldn’t sit together and trip took more than the two hours planned. With a miracle we could catch our ferry but this is by far the worst traveling experience we had in Cambodia. Pascal
My first journey to Sihanoukville was on a 3 carriage train. My return trip to Phnom Penh was on a rail motor. There was nothing wrong with either trip but the train was nicer. The train staff were really good both times. Stephen
The train is comfortable, and the staff were very helpful. It does travel very slowly though. Stephen
Train was due in at 9.30pm, didn’t get in till 11pm Marc
The Train was 1 hour late. Gerda
Train was 1 hour 50 mins late arriving. Then we had to wait for another one , as aircon broken down Arrived at Sihanoukville at 3.25pm instead of 12.40 ... Rossana
2h train took nearly 4h, comfort level was pretty bad compared with other SEA trains, journey took forever and screwed up my onward plans. Wouldn't take this train again. Kate
Oceane
Great journey, with good views of Cambodian countryside and towns - and fascinating run through sub urban Phnom Penh, right to the city centre train station. Train available to board 30 mins early, departed on time and arrived 35 mins early at 2155. We knew there would be no food or drink on board, so we took a carry out from our lunch time restaurant. However, plenty of meals available from stalls at Pursat station where we stopped between 1725 and 1745. Lovely relaxed atmosphere on the train, with warm staff. Continuous on-board cleaning, including toilet with seat, toilet roll, soap etc. Fab way to travel. Rebeka
Air conditioning needs to be updated Bernard
The train ride was great a lot better than last year we travelled at least an avg of 60km/h which was a lot more than last year we arrived at Bakan in about 4 hrs from PP Cafarella
about 2 hours delay Giovanni
The train arrived more than 1 hour delayed against the schedule. The AC was far from sufficient, couple of benches was broken thus not enough space for all passengers, and the train could be also cleaner. Vladimir
1h30 de retard au départ de Kampot, ce n’est rien en comparaison avec la climatisation réglée beaucoup trop froide !! Francoise
