Great service with drop off at the Train, provided drinks, food and snacks Little space for 4 persons, service shouting and knocking for food and drinks was little annoying for us Lisa  

Met expectations. Only minor criticism thin mattress, nice touch with breakfast pack Russell  

Quite good but other 2 passengers were in our cabin and told us they were told they could share the 4 berth cabin with their friend. Otherwise al good Russell  

All good but downside was the toilet with water all over the floor. Otherwise quite okay Russell  

Nuit horrible, les bruits du train au delas du bruit d’un train en marche qui sont normale, des énormes bruits de grincement dès que le train tournait légèrement étaient horrible, placé proche des toilettes, des odeurs insupportable remontais dans la chambre, j’ai pris une chambre de luxe pensant avoir du confort mais j’ai dormi sur un lit de garde a vu. De plus j’ai acheter 5 places car j’ai payé pour mon bébé de 2 ans qui a dormi avec moi donc la 5 eme place a été vide dans un autre wagon car pas utilisé et donc payé pour rien. Diane

We had a nice spacious waiting room and a staff member to assist with boarding which made things very relaxed. Our room was comfortable and clean. I think for the price, the beers, coffee and teas should be included in the price however. Christopher

SCAMMER ALERT!!!!! The Laman express staff will scam you with the taxi at Sapa. The price for a whole car should be 300-500,000 dong. I agreed th price for a private transfer at 500,000. When we arrived there was another couple who had expected the same private transfer and an argument ensued. The taxi driver threatened to leave us in the car park unless we agreed that he take both couples. The reason I booked through Laman was because I thought their staff could be trusted. We had paid them on the train. Do not trust these people at all. Many other companies operate on this train . I can’t believe Laman express allows its staff to scam It’s customers like this. Also the air conditioning barely worked so the room was like a sauna , and my wife’s duvet had what looks like blood stains on it. We swapped it for another as we were only 2 people in our sleeper berth. AVOiD!!!! Simon

The Laman express overnight sleeper train from Lao Cai was slightly better than the Livitrans carriage, drinks, snacks departure and arrival as advertised. Accomodation was cleaner and newer. The toilet did have soap but no toilet paper was provided and by morning the toilets was blocked and almost overflowing. Return trip temperature in the cabin was comfortable. Christopher  

It was my first time on a sleeper train, I’m a tall guy, 6’2 or 187cm) but fitted well on the bed. They gave us some free snacks, the toilet was reasonably clean for most of the trip , but did quickly run out of toilet paper, so always bring your own. The aircon had about 10 vents, we switched my wife’s side off and kept mine on , so all were happy. Simon  

Train on time, not as beautiful and clean as Chapa Express, matresses and pillows were quite hard. However, the temperature/airconditioning was comfy and the train run also much more smoother than Chapa Express, which helped a lot in case of sleeping. Julia

Very efficient and organised from Mango Hotel check in to getting into our cabin. The cabin was very clean and we were provided with drinks and snacks. The air conditioning worked very well and although the beds were hard we managed to get a decent nights sleep. Don’t rely on the WiFi it’s very intermittent and slow. We were pleasantly pleased with the cleanliness of the toilets throughout the journey. Would highly recommend booking a cabin to yourselves. The staff were always up and down selling food and drinks at prices cheaper than the supermarket so don’t bother getting provisions and carrying them around. The staff providing these services were brilliant. Arrived on time and in good spirits after the travel. Alan  

We were very pleased with our trip. Tickets were easy to book and boarding cards arrived promptly by email There were no problems catching the train at NinhBinh station The cabin was very clean and drinks and snacks thoughtful The trains itself makes quite a bit of noise which makes it difficult to sleep (ear plugs are advised) We would do it again Stephen  

Our ticket specifically told us to wait across the street at a restaurant to be picked up and then someone would take us to the train station across the street, but no one came. Also, the workers on the train were so rude. They were rushing us to get off but there was no reason for them to be so rude about it. I now understand what people mean when they say people in Northern Vietnam are unhappy and rude! I am a travel advisor who travels the world and the workers I have encounter there are incredibly unprofessional and not helpful. Dawn

Would have been nice if the bathrooms are more attended. For our ride, the bathroom ran out of toilet paper shortly after we left Hanoi, and by the time we arrived at Da Nang the next day, no one put additional toilet paper in, you can tell it's not cleaned either. Overall it was a nice experience. Bin

Nice helpful staff, but carriage very old, so lots of rattles and noises during journey. Though superficially clean, the carriage worn out. Note that other operators carriages on same train much better. Beds very hard. James

After learning of the flooding in HUE, i did not take the train, and my hotel reservation in HUE was cancelled. As of approximately 10:00AM on November 5, 2025, the railway company had not yet responded to this matter. I sincerely hope to receive a refund. Hwee  

My recent train trip from Da Nang to Hanoi was very good overall. The train attendant was excellent – friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout the journey. The only issue was that my ticket said to go to the VIP room to check in with staff, but there was no VIP room or clear signage at the station. I’d suggest either removing this note from the ticket or adding a clear sign that there is no VIP room, so passengers know exactly where to go. Ronald

it actualy was not Laman Expres train. it was some old train from different company. Only bedsheats were Laman's. the train was very old, smelly ans make horrible sounds all night. Jiri  

Un piège à touristes. C'est beaucoup plus cher que l'avion, pour aucun confort. Je n'appelle pas cette cabine De luxe mais standard moins, moins, moins. Si on a pas une Deluxe on dort par terre ? A Hanoï nous avons marché sur le quai pour arriver à cette rame ; j'ai pu voir que les cabines, d'une autre compagnie, à l'arrière du train ont des murs très bien décoré, pour votre compagnie c'est juste GRIS. Quant au lit, il est dur comme du bois, dur comme du béton serait d'ailleurs plus approprié. Ma pire expérience au Vietnam ! Christine

They did not answer my phone calls. Baolau as an agent should help ME get a full refund. Other agents like booking.com will help customers deal with the vendors. Please help me get refund. If not I will express all my problems in my bad REVIEW of Baolau. Please help! Kuan

Service was excellent from checking in at da nang train station. Escorted to vip room and met by Chris of Laman express. Chis has been excellent during trip. and very helpful. Cabinbeautiful and clean. Snacks and drinks waiting in the cabin. Food and drinks trolleys coming through carriage with very good selections. Bathroom facilities always clean. Feel very safe with lockable cabin door. Cabin was very clean and neatly presented on arrival. Train rickety and cranky but we expected that .good ear plugs sorted out noise. Bedding all mattress and pillow all clean and comfortable.adjustable air con and cabin lighting. We have loved every part of trip Derek

We had the vip double room - was expensive but roomier than any train carriage I have been on other than the Caledonian Express Martin
