Travellers with Non-reserved Seat tickets are allowed to take any seat available only in the Ordinary cars designated as Non-reserved. On these cars, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. When all the seats are full, passengers must travel standing.

The train ticket with JR costs 5,940 JPY for Non-reserved Seat on all Shinkansen trains, 6,470 JPY for Reserved Seat (Ordinary Car) on Hikari and Kodama trains, 6,680 JPY for Reserved Seat (Ordinary Car) on Nozomi trains, 8,740 JPY for Reserved Seat (Green Car) on Hikari and Kodama trains, and 8,950 JPY for Reserved Seat (Green Car) on Nozomi trains.
