Charmy Express operates their own compartments in standard passenger cars operated by Vietnam Railways.
Passenger cars are divided in one class: Sleeper 4-Berth in compartments for 1-4 passengers.

Charmy Express serves the following destinations in Vietnam:
Northern Vietnam
Hanoi–Lao Cai railway
The Hanoi–Lao Cai railway line connects Hanoi and Lao Cai, in the Northwestern Mountains of Vietnam. Trains depart from Hanoi Railway Station and return from Lao Cai Railway Station.

North–South railway
The North–South railway line connects Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. Trains depart from Hanoi Railway Station and arrive at Saigon Railway Station stopping in the major stations along Central Vietnam, such us Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Vinh, Dong Hoi, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Dieu Tri, Nha Trang, Phan Rang–Thap Cham, Binh Thuan and other secondary stations.

If you wish to change your booking with Charmy Express, please Contact Us. This option is available until 144 hours before departure, after that time please contact directly with Charmy Express. Change fees will apply.
No change for tickets on public holidays.
Cancellation policy
The following cancellation terms apply to the train fares:

If you wish to cancel your booking with Charmy Express, kindly manage your booking and request a cancellation to proceed with the refund. This option is available until 6 days before departure.
Service fees will not be refunded. Cancellation fees will apply.
- 20% of the ticket fare + 50,000 VND per ticket if the ticket has been issued
- 30% of the ticket fare + 50,000 VND per ticket if 6 to 20 days to departure
- No refund if less than 6 days to departure or departure on public holiday

Only 3 people of our party of 8 made it onto the train as we were given an incorrect departure time (52 minutes after the train actually departed). Cabins not at all as shown in the pictures. Very dated and very hard to get onto top bunks (acrobatic skills required). Beds hard. 20% refund offered for people who did not make it onto train!!! Heidi

Upon arrival at the station our cabin was already occupied by 2 people We had reserved and paid for a complete cabin It took 15/20 minutes to be transferred to another cabin It seems that there was an error in the ticketing and the seats were not what we had paid for In any case it was annoying to go through this Then there was an accident and we were delayed by 3 hours .. I found the snack pack entirely useless. I hate cheese and onion flavoured crisps, despise sweet fizzy drinks and avoid using water from throw-away plastic bottles for the sake of the environment. I didn't touch it. Francis
The Charmy Express was a great little train of overnight travel. Nothing fancy, but totally comfortable and clean. I was hesitant to book after reading some reviews online, but we really enjoyed the experience. We were travelling as a group of 3 and got a 4 bunk room. Marc
I expected more considering the price. The mattress was hard, the top bunk did not have a proper ladder so climbing up top bunk is awkward and could be pretty hard for a shorter person, and it wasn't completely clean. I was able to a proper night of sleep anyway. Laura
horrible… on n’a pas eu le train réservé, du coup un autre train nous a été proposé. au petit matin, en voulant sortir de la cabine, je me suis rendu compte qu’elle ne s’ouvrait pas de l’intérieur. On a du crier et taper pendant 10min avant que des employés viennent nous ouvrir, je me suis coupé les doigts en essayant de forcer… vous pouvez vérifier tout ça avec les employés Davy

Le personnel de bord n'est absolument pas aimable le train n'est pas propre et les photos sont fausse quand on réserve nous n'avons absolument pas eu la cabine que nous avions réservé En revanche le personnel de ravitaillement et la nourriture sont excellentes Christophe

I wasn’t impressed with the service of Charmy Express. The train carriage was a standard one and in poor condition. The toilet bowl was blocked and nearly overflowing with urine. There were no curtains separating the berths. As if that wasn’t bad enough, there were cockroaches in our cabin - we killed at least 12 of them ! Won’t take this train service again. Kenneth
